Monumental Italian 12-light chandelier. Hand-carved wood frame with original painted finish in layered tones of sage green, blue-gray, cream, and traces of gold gilt underneath. The paint has the highly coveted "chippy patina" - crazing, oxidation, and wear. 

The form is classic Tuscan/Venetian rustico: two tiers of six scrolled arms with carved wood bobeches and candle sleeves. The central body is turned and carved with acanthus leaf, rope, and geometric motifs. As seen in your detail photos, you can see multiple paint layers.  The chandelier is adorned with carved wood tassels and beaded garlands. 

This was originally a candle chandelier and has been electrified with faux candle sleeves - perfect for modern use while keeping the antique silhouette. The scale is dramatic: these large 12-arm forms were made for entryways, dining rooms, and stairwells in Italian palazzi. The distressed paint makes it work in both traditional and modern farmhouse interiors.
