Exceptional early 19th-century in the style Italian Rococo chandelier, carved wood with wrought iron arms. This statement fixture features a central carved wood shaft decorated with a cascading garland of fruit and leaves - pears, grapes, and acanthus - all hand-carved and gilded/painted. The central column flows into 6 scrolled iron arms with foliate drip pans, creating beautiful movement.
Original polychrome finish in aged gold leaf with remnants of pale turquoise/verdigris paint, giving it that authentic "Tuscan fresco" patina collectors love. The paint wear is completely natural with craquelure and losses that reveal layers underneath. Each arm terminates in a candle-style socket with wax drip sleeves, ready for electric conversion.
This is "Sopraporte" style chandelier, typical of Veneto and Lombardy regions. Originally designed for candle use, now wired for electricity but keeps the historic character.
