This elegant pair is crafted in the iconic ancient Roman curule form - the X-shaped Savonarola / curule base that has symbolized royalty and prestige since antiquity. The frames are lavishly hand-carved with reeded, curule legs that sweep into exquisite parcel-gilt lion paw feet adorned with acanthus leaves, a signature of Empire craftsmanship.

The upper arms terminate in beautifully carved scrolled volutes with floral rosette medallions, finished in a richly antiqued gilt over an ivory-white distressed ground - the classic Italian parcel-gilt technique that creates depth and old-world patina. At the center of each X-frame is a carved floral rosette medallion.

Upholstered in an authentic Italian Fortuny printed cotton in ivory and gold Chinoiserie floral and vine toile, accented with braided gimp trim and spaced nailhead trim detail. The curved, barrel-shaped seat offers both comfort and sculptural elegance.
