Atmospheric Mediterranean style olive jar, prized for its monumental form and its exquisitely complex, worn surface.

Known traditionally as a Biot jar or Tinaja, this historic vessel was once used in farmsteads of Provence and Spain for storing oil, grain, and olives. Its terracotta body now displays layers of weathered mustard, lichen moss, ochre, and bleached stone, with a dry, encrusted mineral patina that can be achieved through decades of authentic use and exposure. The surface is painterly, tactile, and ever-changing with the light.

The silhouette is classic and powerful: a full, rounded ovoid tapering to a thick, hand-formed rolled rim, its lip burnished smooth by time, revealing the warm terracotta beneath.

Stunning as a grand entryway statement, flanking a fireplace, or as a focal point in a Wabi-Sabi, Belgian Farmhouse, Mediterranean, Tuscan, or Organic Modern interior and garden. The interior is clean and intact, ideal as a dry decorative vessel or for styling with tall, architectural branches..

The interior opening measures 12 inches in diameter.
