Magnificent Italian Rococo style credenza, a sculptural statement piece with incredible presence. This rare painted sideboard features a serpentine bow-front with 4 doors, hand-carved with asymmetrical Rococo cartouches, C-scrolls, shells, and acanthus motifs typical of Northern Italian Baroque.
The standout feature is its original polychrome finish: aged ivory-cream ground with pale blue pinstripes and gilt highlights that make the carving pop. Each cartouche is hand-painted with delicate floral sprays - roses and wildflowers - in the Venetian painted furniture tradition. The original patina shows honest craquelure and wear on edges and feet, confirming its age and authenticity.
Inside it retains its original pine/poplar wood with fixed shelving, untouched by later paint. Made from lightweight Italian poplar, the preferred wood in Veneto/Lombardy because it resists warping. Original hand-forged iron hinges and locks remain. It stands on 6 low carved bracket feet that follow the curve of the base.
Perfect as a dining buffet, entryway console, or media credenza. Works beautifully in Neoclassical, Transitional, and even modern interiors as a contrasting antique focal point.
