19th Century French Louis XV Style Settee with Carved Arms and Cabriole Legs France, circa 1880 A refined 19th-century French Louis XV-style settee, newly upholstered in a neutral flax-toned linen, featuring elegant serpentine lines and hand-carved walnut arms and legs with a beautifully weathered patina. This graceful piece blends sophistication with rustic charm, ideal for both classic interiors and more relaxed, modern settings. The settee boasts a shaped camelback frame, delicately flaring outward with soft curvature, enhancing its presence without overpowering a space. The arms are carved in the classic Louis XV scroll form with a subtle volute at the handrest, showing original remnants of pale blue and ivory paint, now gently worn through to reveal the warm wood grain beneath—evidence of its layered history and authenticity. It stands on six cabriole legs, each adorned with acanthus carvings at the knee and tapering to whorled feet. The front and side rails exhibit a sinuous line, echoing the curvature of the arms and back. Tight upholstery with antique-bronze nailhead trim adds a tailored finish.
