18th Century Italian Baroque Giltwood Tabernacle Finial on Lucite Base
A rare and sculptural 18th Century Italian Baroque giltwood tabernacle finial, now mounted as a luxury objet d'art.
The form is exceptional: a flame / artichoke finial top over a cruciform bulbous body with three projecting lobes, a slender fluted shaft, and a foliate cup base. Beautifully carved and retaining its original water-gilding over red bole with burnished gold, warm wood tones, and authentic age patina.
Mounted on a clear modern acrylic / lucite block, creating a perfect dialogue between ancient sacred art and contemporary display. Ideal for a library, mantel, or cabinet of curiosities - very much in the Axel Vervoordt / Rose Uniacke aesthetic.
