17th Century Spanish Pine Pricket Candlestick

A beautifully weathered 17th Century Spanish pine pricket candlestick from a rural church altar.

Carved as an urn-form with acanthus leaves and lobed melon body, raised on a square base. The surface shows centuries of stripping, leaving bare pine with traces of original whitewash, gesso, and gilding, with natural cracks, wormholes, and timeworn patina that only age can create.

Retains its original hand-forged iron pricket spike. Perfect as a rustic altar candlestick, tabletop sculpture, or wabi-sabi decorative object in the style of Axel Vervoordt.
