A beautifully timeworn and sculptural 19th-century Italian Rococo console, exquisitely carved in bold, asymmetrical scrolls and pierced floral motifs. This dramatic wall-mount console displays the fluidity and exuberance characteristic of late-18th to early-19th century northern Italian craftsmanship, with deeply carved acanthus leaves, volutes, and cascading foliate flourishes that appear to spill outward in motion.
The console retains much of its original painted and gilded surface, now wonderfully distressed with age. Layers of soft celadon, muted ivory, traces of coral red bole, and worn patches of gold leaf create a richly textured patina that only generations of natural wear can achieve. The top shows a beautifully weathered painted surface with areas of wear, craquelure, and scattered gilding—adding authenticity and warmth.
