A commanding example of American silver craftsmanship, this monumental three-handled loving cup in made of sterling silver.
The body rises from a spreading circular foot to a generous, baluster-form vessel with a flared rim. The waist is encircled by a magnificent band of hand-chased repoussé decoration: lush acanthus scrolls and floral swags that catch the light with every angle. Three elegant double-scroll handles, each terminating in acanthus leaf terminals, are expertly applied and provide perfect balance to the commanding form.
