This striking pair of antique mirrors features ornately carved panels above each mirror plate, likely originating from 19th century European architectural elements. The upper sections showcase deeply relief-carved motifs with stylized foliage and birds, highlighted by remnants of gilt and layers of original polychrome paint in ochre, sienna, and ivory tones. The timeworn painted surface displays a richly distressed patina with areas of exposed gesso and wood, enhancing the aged character of the frames. The mirror plates are heavily oxidized, contributing to the authentic antique feel, and the tall rectangular proportions suggest they may have originally been part of a paneled boiserie or architectural interior.
