A highly decorative Italian carved wood console table, late 19th century, executed in the Baroque Revival style. The frieze is centered with a dramatic female mask in deep relief, surrounded by scrolling acanthus, floral garlands, and latticework carving. Boldly scrolled supports, richly detailed with plume and shell motifs, rest on claw-and-ball feet and are united by an elaborately carved stretcher with a central cartouche. The piece retains a softly weathered surface with traces of patina, enhancing its sculptural depth and old-world character. Strongly influenced by Renaissance and Baroque precedents, this console embodies the grandeur and theatricality associated with Italian craftsmanship.
