From the rolling hills of Northern Italy, this exquisite carved giltwood lantern once graced the loggia of a grand provincial villa near Lake Como. Its form is richly adorned with deeply carved acanthus leaves, scrolling volutes, and rosettes, each detail a testament to the artistry of Italian woodcarvers working in the Baroque Revival tradition of the late 19th century. The warm, time-softened gilding captures the light in a way only true age can achieve—revealing a mellowed patina layered with centuries of character. Original glass panels enclose a four-light candelabra, whose faux wax candle sleeves echo the lantern’s original candlelit past, now thoughtfully rewired for modern use.
