Description
19th century Italian carved wood painted & parcel gilt Tabernacle. A Tabernacle was an enclosed structure with a door that was placed on the alter at a church. This ornately decorated piece has a center door that is flanked by a pair of Corinthian columns. The door is decorated with a sunburst surrounding a sacred heart. There are also garlands of vines hanging over the doorway. The painted finish is beautifully distressed in soft shades of blue & white. Accents of gold leaf throughout.
