As you can see in the close-ups, the gesso and paint have aged to a soft sage\/cream\/gilt patina with natural crazing and wear.  Under the paint you see hints of earlier gilt layers, proving it’s original gilt finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLegs are fluted and tapered with block feet, connected by an elegant X-stretcher with central oval cartouche carved with acanthus and shells. Topped with the original shaped white Carrara marble top with gray veining that follows the bombe front edge.
