19th-century-french-louis-xv-rococo-doors-with-distressed-wood-finish
19th Century French Louis XV Rococo Doors with Distressed Wood Finish

An exceptionally rare and breathtaking pair of authentic 19th Century French Louis XV château doors, a true museum-quality architectural treasure.

This matched pair of Rococo doors showcases the iconic Louis XV arched silhouette with exquisitely carved, serpentine Rocaille moldings and egg-and-dart borders. Each door is comprised of two raised panels, each centered with a masterfully hand-carved, openwork appliqué of abundant grape clusters and scrolling acanthus vines - the classic Bacchic motif of French wine country.

What makes these doors truly irreplaceable is their sublime, untouched original finish. Layers of original Gustavian sky-blue, antique cream, sage green, and terracotta polychrome have beautifully distressed and dry-scraped over centuries, revealing the warm solid wood beneath. The heavily crackled, time-worn patina with authentic wear, knots, and wood grain cannot be replicated.

Perfect to be reinstalled as grand interior doors, monumental wall art, headboard, pantry doors, or statement sliding doors in a luxury Tuscan villa, French country estate, or wine cellar.

A pair of doors with soul, history, and incomparable romantic character.
